The Missouri Citizens Commission's recommendations for hiking the pay of Missouri's elected officials will be facing opposition in the Legislature.
Tracy Sadeghian has the details from Jefferson City.
Carl Junction Representative..Republican Mark Elliott says he'll introduce a measure in the upcoming legislative session to squash the pay hikes..including a proposed 21-percent increase for lawmakers...
Elliott says he fears a full time legislature would become like Congress..disconnected from the people.
Democrat Representative Tim Harlan disagrees and says legislators need higher salaries to attract better candidates.
Harlan has not made up his mind whether he will support the percent pay increase.
The raises will automatically go into effect on February first unless both the House and the Senate vote against the move.
