On the November ballot, Missourians will decide whether to increase their minimum wage.

But a potential increase in the minimum wage is provoking strong opposition among Missouri's employers.

Adam Czerwinski reports from Jefferson City:

A proposition, supported by Missourri Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, would increase the minimal wage to 6.25 $ per hour.

This eventual increase is causing strong protests from a business organization called Save Our States Jobs.

Campaign Manager Mark Rhoads says he sees a real danger in the proposition:

Rhoads estimates 70% of work in Missouri is within 30 miles from other states. An increase in wages could influence some businesses to move to neighboring states with lower wage.

According to Save Our States Jobs, instead of helping the less paid workers, the proposition could increase unemployment.

Rhoads says his organization will launch an agressive campaign for about one millon dollars to make voters aware about the danger of this increase.
