A proposal to change a rule in the Senate would ban senators from dining off lobbyists. Kimberly Lohman (low-man) in Jefferson City has the story.

The Missouri Senate leadership has delayed a vote on a rule to reform lobbying. But Senator Marvin Singleton is determined to level the playing field for constituents vying lobbyists for access to legislators by bringing the rule to a vote. Actuality:Senator Singleton
RunTime:
OutCue: registered professional lobbyists
Contents: We want everyone to bring ideas to the Senate and to this Capitol but leave the money at home. This allows John Q. Public the same access as over 2,000 registered lobbyists.
Under Singleton's proposed rule, Senators could not accept gifts and meals from lobbyists, but they could from constituents. Singleton said senators would not be prohibited from dining with lobbyists, it's just the legislators would have to go dutch or pick up the tab.
