Missouri's govenror has presented his legislative recommendations to a joint session of the state legislature. Phill Brooks has the story from Jefferson City:
It was a crack-down on crime that led off the governor's list of legislative recommendations.
Mel Carnahan's calling for life sentences for preadatory sex offenders, more funds for domestic violence shelters and stronger provisions to get violence children out of the normal classroom:
Other items on the governor's agenda included a stronger program to get children immunized against diseases.
But he left for last in his speech -- politically what probably is the most popular recommendation -- cutting the state sales tax by one-quarter of a penny.
