In the wake of yesterday's indictment of former House Speaker Bob Griffin... Republican Secretary of State candidate John Hancock charges that his opponent helped protect Griffin's power.
David Freitas has the story from Jefferson City.
Hancock says a vote that Secretary of State Bekki Cook kept open to elect then House Speaker Bob Griffin in 1994 was unfair.
While Hancock was not willing to connect the indictment of Griffin to Cook... he did say that this election is a measure of her performance as Secretary of State.
Hancock says this allegedly unfair election is one of the reasons he's running.
Cook responded to criticism about the election with the claim that democracy is messy sometimes.
