Microsoft's release of Windows 95 may have impressed many computer users, but not state government. Missouri has refused to put the software on state contract. Candyce Clifft has the story from Jefferson City...

Story:Win9601
RunTime: 50
OutCue: SOC

Unlike the old Windows software, Windows 95 is not accessible to the visually impaired. State Administration Commissioner, Richard Hansen, says he will not put the software on contract until Microsoft fixes the problem, or shows progress toward fixing it...

Actuality: Hansen
RunTime: 10
[Hanson says Microsoft reports they're working on the problem.]

Hansen says departments can purchase the software without state contract, but he encourages them not to. Governor Mel Carnahan supports Hansen's decision. Carnahan says Missouri tries to make all government services handicap accessible. As for Windows 95, he says state government will just have to wait.
